Kelantan is home to vibrant communities, rich cultural heritage, and a growing focus on inclusion for Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU). As Malaysia advances its national goals through the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008 amendments and related guidelines, there is increasing opportunity to make buildings, mosques, surau, schools, markets, and public spaces more welcoming and accessible for everyone.

At AccessConsultants.asia, two dedicated team members — Nur Syuhada Binti Che Rahimi and Ahmad Syafiq bin Mohd Unzir — bring specialised skills and practical experience to support OKU accessibility improvements right here in Kelantan and across Malaysia.

Nur Syuhada Binti Che Rahimi – Architectural Executive

Nur Syuhada has been a full-time member of the AccessConsultants.asia team since May 2019. Holding a Master of Architecture (LAM & RIBA Part II), she has over seven years of experience in architectural design, documentation, and accessible projects, with strong expertise in universal design and regulatory compliance.

Her key strengths include:

  • Delivering inclusive design for disability accommodation, residential, and community projects
  • Highly proficient in BIM workflows using Archicad for accurate coordination and documentation
  • Preparing authority submissions and ensuring alignment with Malaysian standards (MS 1184:2014)
  • Managing projects remotely while maintaining clear communication and consistent delivery

Syuhada’s calm, detail-oriented approach makes her ideal for working collaboratively with Kelantan building owners, mosque committees, schools, and community groups to create practical, cost-effective accessibility solutions that respect local culture and needs.

Ahmad Syafiq bin Mohd Unzir – Graduate Architect

Ahmad Syafiq has been a full-time team member since April 2019. With a Master of Architecture (LAM & RIBA Part II) and equivalency for Certificate IV in Access Consulting, he has more than seven years of experience in accessible architecture, BIM documentation, and regulatory compliance.

His key strengths include:

  • Conducting detailed access audits and preparing accessibility reports
  • Applying Malaysian standards (MS 1184) and Australian benchmarks (AS 1428.1) for best-practice outcomes
  • Highly proficient in Archicad (versions 22–27) for coordinated drawings and consultant integration
  • Proven ability to collaborate respectfully with mosque committees (AJK) and community stakeholders

Syafiq’s experience includes leading an access audit at Masjid Jamek in Kuala Lumpur (supported by PAM Social and Corporate Responsibility Committee), where he met with AJK members and Dr Norwina to discuss practical improvements. This same respectful, collaborative approach is perfectly suited to working with Kelantan communities.

How Nur Syuhada & Ahmad Syafiq Can Assist OKU Access in Kelantan

Together, Syuhada and Syafiq offer practical support tailored to Kelantan’s unique context – from historic mosques and surau to community halls, schools, markets, and public buildings:

  1. Professional Access Audits – Baseline existing facilities against MS 1183/MS 1184 and national guidelines. Identify simple, cost-effective improvements in entrances, pathways, ablution areas, prayer spaces, and toilets.
  2. Universal Design Recommendations – Suggest ramps (1:12 gradient), wider doors, grab bars, tactile paving, braille signage, and accessible toilets that benefit OKU, elderly residents, families, and visitors alike.
  3. Respectful Collaboration – Work closely with mosque AJK, community leaders, and local authorities to ensure solutions respect Kelantan’s cultural and religious values.
  4. Clear Documentation & Reporting – Deliver BIM-based drawings (Archicad) and professional reports to support funding applications, approvals, and implementation.

Whether improving accessibility in a historic surau in Kota Bharu, a community hall in Pasir Mas, or a school in Tumpat, their approach is always practical, affordable, and sensitive to local needs.

AccessConsultants.asia is proud to support Malaysia’s national inclusion goals – including the PwD Act amendments and PwD-friendly mosque guidelines – through local expertise and respectful collaboration. Nur Syuhada and Ahmad Syafiq are ready to bring practical, proven solutions to Kelantan.
